Distinguish between a want and a need.

 

Describe how people in the community earn a living to meet their needs.

 

Identify which businesses within the community produce goods and which produce services

 

 

 

Learning Standards

 

Give examples of people in the school and community who are both producers and consumers.

 

Explain what buyers and sellers are and give examples of goods and services that are bought and sold in their community

Sample Assessments

 

Sort and classify pictures of goods by those that are wants and those that are needs.

 

Draw pictures of several businesses in the community.  Beneath each picture write the name of the business, what it produces, whether it supplies goods or services, and whether it addresses people’s wants or needs.
